Democrat Socialist Metro Councilman Sean Parker Dodges Questions About Dismissive Tweet as Gas Prices Soar

Sean Parker of Tennessee

Metro Nashville Councilman and founding member of the Democratic Socialists of America – Middle Tennessee chapter Sean Parker posted an insensitive tweet Wednesday about rising gas prices.

When The Tennessee Star called Councilman Parker Thursday to ask his thoughts about soaring prices at the pump and its impact on Tennesseans, Parker declared he had no comment and abruptly ended the call.

The Wednesday tweet read, “Reminder: gas prices go up every summer and they’re going to do it this year too. It sucks but there are other things we need to discuss.”

It is unclear if Parker considers the month of March to be part of the summer season.

The Star’s phone exchange with Parker to ask about the tweet was met with an extended pause followed by, “I don’t have a comment.”

When The Star asked Parker if his tweet stood for itself, the councilman responded, “No comment,” and then immediately hung up the phone.

According to a chart maintained by Gas Buddy, a website and app that helps users find both current and historical fuel prices at filling stations in their area, the national average price per gallon of gasoline two weeks prior to the Biden administration taking office was under $2.25 a gallon. One year ago in March of 2021, the national average was above $2.80 per gallon. In November of 2021 it was above $3.30. Thursday, the national average currently sits at $4.33 a gallon.

During the same timeframe in Nashville, the local average was slightly above $2.00 per gallon in January of 2021, over $2.70 in March of 2021, above $3.o5 in November of 2021, and is currently sitting over $4.09 a gallon.

In the Metro Nashville area, one 15-gallon tank cost roughly $30 to fill up before Biden took office. Just two months later, the cost rose approximately $10. In November of 2021, one tank cost nearly $46.

Today the same amount of gas costs over $61 – slightly more than double the amount to top off the tank prior to Biden taking office.

Parker’s bio on the far left George Soros-connected website The New Leader’s Council says:

Sean Parker is the current Metro Nashville City Council for District 5, and is the first Democratic Socialist to sit in the Metro Council. Sean is also a founding member of the Middle TN Democratic Socialists of America chapter, and is actively involved in various grassroots groups and campaigns around Davidson County.

  1. Being originally from Atlanta, I can see the writing on the walls. Soon, this place will be one big parking lot. The Nashville Metro area would be better served by light rail run by cheap TVA electricity. I would imagine with the inflation setting in, and gas prices soaring, many people would choose light rail. Why CSX and Metro can’t work a deal with commuter rail lines is beyond me?

You guys know democratic socialism isn’t the same as socialism right? Also, the gas price has nothing to do with the President. Gas was about this high in 08 under bush.

I wonder….can we go back to his campaigning materials and see if he admitted to socialism in them? I’m betting he didn’t! Of course, District 5 in part is downtown and then north of downtown, so maybe he did and they absolutely voted for it! Hopefully, he will only be a 1 term member.

Mr. Parker would likely be in for a very rude and unpleasant awakening were his puppet – masters to actually take over.

Republicans can do something if they want, a moratorium on collecting Tennessee’s gasoline tax has been proposed….. road builders won’t be happy, though…

Biden could have continued American energy independence, but he attacked it his first day in office and gas prices started a steady rise last January as the globalists and climate change cultists wanted. They are NOT on the side of the American people.
